Some pupils experience an additional need during their school career and Alder Grange works hard to ensure that any barriers to learning, and to social and personal development are removed. Children with a Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or learning needs are supported through a coordinated approach involving the Inclusion Team, Subject teachers, Achievement Leaders, Form tutors and parents/carers to maximise progress and implement the Code of Practice.

You may be aware that changes are being made to the SEN/D Code of Practice. The aim of the reforms is to improve long-term outcomes for Children and Young People with SEN/D by changing the way in which they receive support and focussing not just on meeting the needs they have now but on meeting needs in such a way that the support works towards the outcomes that the child and family want for the future.
