The catering facility at Alder Grange is an in house facility. This means that the school controls what we serve to our pupils. We work hard to stay within the government guidelines but also serve food that our pupils want to eat. We are happy to say that since going in house the uptake of pupils eating in school has gone up and we now feed 75% of our students throughout our school day
Every Child is issued with a PIN that is individual to them. We offer 3 services a day
Parent Pay is the safest way to ensure that your child has money for their lunch. Our system updates hourly at a ¼ to the hour. So money needs to be put on by 11.30 to ensure it’s on by lunch. Our system feeds back at the end of the day to Parent Pay to give you an up to date balance. Just for information when it says amount spent today it should read amount spent to date.
Revaluer Machines are located in school so pupils can add money to their accounts. They are able to add notes or coins. The pupils individual PIN must be used to ensure that the money is added to the correct account. We are not able to reimburse money that is added once it has been put through the revaluer. Every pupil should keep their PIN private but new pins can be issued if a pupil believes their PIN has been used fraudulently. Every pupil should check their name comes up after entering their PIN and check the money has gone on before leaving. It is almost impossible to locate money if entered on the wrong PIN and it goes unnoticed.
Parent Scope is a service provided by our cashless service provider and shows what your child has purchased and also what cash has been put on the system. It is an easy way to keep up to date with what your child is eating and spending.
Allergens, special diets and spending limits we are happy to work with parents of pupils that have an intolerance or allergic reaction to foods. We do require medical confirmation about your child’s condition. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school for help. We are able to set our tills to show any special dietary needs to the person serving them. Our system automatically sets a daily advisory limit to £5.00. This can be altered at parents request; we are also able to stop pupils from buying at certain times of the day and from buying any products to fit in with diets and allergens. But only at parents request.
Free School Meals can only be claimed via the benefits system and cannot be claimed via the school. Free school meals are added to the pupils account just before lunch and cannot be seen on the revaluers. The free school meal allowance is £2.30 the amount of a meal deal.
Lunch time Rota Lunches are served on a weekly Rota system. This ensures that everyone has first choice of the day’s menu throughout the week but also that everyone comes in last. Although we try our best to ensure your child gets a choice every day it is not possible to ensure every choice will be available to every child we serve. No child is EVER turned away because we have no food.
What do we serve at lunch?
With our new menu’s we have included the allergen information for everything sold. This gives parents the opportunity to advise their children on what they can eat and should avoid. We also have a copy of all allergen sheets up on the wall in the dining room and a copy for the catering staff in the kitchen.
We do not use or store nuts in the school kitchen but we do not control what is brought in to school by other children. So if your child has a medically recognised allergy please ensure that the school is kept fully up to date on your child condition and any response required should your child come in to contact with their allergen.
Pupil’s allergen information is stored on our cashless system so the member of catering staff serving them they are made aware immediately of their requirements and will check before ingredients before serving to ensure your child’s safety.
Any person that has an allergy should make themselves known to the catering staff especially if they are unsure what they can have. My team are happy to help and advice.
This information will be constantly updated as new products are brought in to the kitchen.
