In making their choices of subjects to study in Key Stage 4, your son or daughter is making one of the most important decisions of their lives. It is vital, therefore, that students think carefully about their choices. They must consider the possible impact of their options on further and higher education, perhaps even five years into the future. It is worth noting that specific qualifications may be needed for a particular career or course post-16. It is also very important that students keep their opitions open for higher education and we offer students the opportunity to study for the English Baccalaureate.
Here are some things they might be wise to consider:
a) Their working life will go far beyond the present economic climate – so they must think long term
b) They must be both realistic and ambitious
c) The greater the qualifications they have the more they are likely to earn over their lifetime and the greater their freedom to choose their own pathway in life.
